April 2024 Weather Summary
I think it’s a given the weather has been very topsy-turvy for some time now and March was no exception.
The month started quite mild, but then strong breezes set in which made it feel chilly at times, followed by a dry spell towards the end which was a very welcome respite after nearly three weeks of incessant rainfall.
That said, the strong westerlies often pushed the rain through quite quickly, and as a consequence, there were only seven ‘gloomy’ days in the month when the sun failed to show at all. Indeed, during the dry spell, Cleveleys was often the sunniest place in the whole of the NW i.e. stretching from Cumbria down to Mid Cheshire.
What about May I hear you ask? Will the barbecue season arrive early this year? Indications are a warm spell is coming and, curiously the Bookmakers are currently slashing odds on a record-breaking hot May. I think that might be a fraction optimistic but I for one will be jumping up and down if they are seen to right. Time will tell.
