Welcome to Coast Watchers. It’s a new project to collect and share interesting things about the Wyre coastline.
We’re using your photos along with information from monitoring stations to properly understand (and share) what’s happening to our shoreline. More here
How to join in with Coast Watchers
Why don’t you get involved? We’re looking for people who are interested in the weather, photography, computers, beaches and sea defences. You can take one photo, or join group activities.
When you’re out on the seafront: Markers will soon appear at various points along the Wyre coastline. Take a photo of the target and upload it online, and help to record beach conditions for posterity.
Or get a bit more involved: You can join the group who are working out how to calculate how the beach is moving. They’re doing it with clever software and mobile phones! More here
Explore the Data
Coast Watchers will be tying your photos together with measurements about the weather, wind, tides and more. While we’re working on this why don’t you explore the data that’s already out there?
