Here’s the October 2022 weather summary from Visit Fylde Coast resident weather expert, David Walmsley.
The Month in General: Just three words sum up October – warm, wet and windy. Across the UK as a whole, it was the nation’s seventh warmest October since records began in 1884. The short-term forecasts suggest this mild trend will continue for much of the final two months of the year. If it turns out to be accurate then 2022 will probably turn out be the warmest year in England since records began.
October 2022 Weather Summary
Temperature: Not one frost in sight with night-time minimums 3.5C above average. Regular spells of sunshine also kept daytime temperatures above average.
Rainfall: Only eight dry days in the whole month. No surprise there, given the wind direction was consistently off the Atlantic.
Sunshine: Only seven days in the month when the sun failed to show which was very good considering the number of ‘rainy’ days – 23 in the month.
Average Daily Maximum 15.3C (historical average 13.9C)
Average Night Minimum 11.1C (historical average 7.6C)
Rainfall 108.4mm (105% of average)
Days with rain 23 (historical average 15)
Air Frosts 0 (historical average 0), Ground Frosts 0
