Soap land

Soap Land

I wrote this blog on 9 March so the story has moved on a bit (well a lot) since then in soap land. But as you know, we’ve all been smitten with the dreaded lurgy here at Rabbit Towers. That’s why it’s only being published now!

I wanted to ask what you’d thought about Emmerdale and the saga of Meena. It’s certainly been good TV over the last few weeks and doesn’t she play her part well. I think I’d run a mile if I saw her coming towards me. She plays being menacing so well.

It’s been interesting viewing all the same and gripping. Although I think Charles the vicar is being rather gullible. Hasn’t April grown up, I saw her walking beside Rhona and she has shot up. She’s almost as tall as Rhona and with her long legs you become aware of it more. I kept saying to my lot ‘look at her, she’s going to be one tall girl’ to be met by grunts as they weren’t really interested in how tall April was.

I would have loved to be taller as I don’t care for being a dwarf and never have. Since my spine has decided to disown me, I have the dreaded dowagers hump which I hate, loathe and detest. It’s also that it has made me shrink even more to about four feet ten inches. Although looking on the bright side, I would be good at playing the bent over one that others jumped over as let’s face it, I’m part way there with my stoop! Can any of you oldies remember playing leapfrog? As I was short, I always ended up with someone tall and ended up sliding down their backs with a loud thump onto the road….

Anyway, talking of April, did you know that she has a  brother and sister that are twins and appear in Coronation Street? It’s Joseph and Hope and to me they aren’t a bit alike, in my opinion anyway. He is short and she is tall and a bit plump, talk about chalk and cheese.

I saw the resemblance to April when Joseph first appeared on Coronation Street. I said to Jane wasn’t he like her when April was young. It would be nice if Noah managed to smile a bit instead of always moaning and being long faced. Of course he has to play the part he’s been given but I personally don’t think he’s brilliant. He tends to be a bit wooden, but that’s my opinion, yours may be different.

Then off to Coronation Street where you aren’t a bad one if you can keep up to the stories. I always get muddled up between Imran and his look alike member of the cast. Then of course, I get confused with who has slept with who between them all, very confusing especially when they are similar to each other, well the men that is. Imran now knows that the best kept secret baby is his, delivered with the fastest labour known to man. All say aaaahhhhhh, poor Toyah.

Have you ever noticed how when there’s a big story line nearly the same sort of thing happens in other soaps. Why, I wonder.

Then of course, there is cutie pie Sam, the Einstein of Weatherfield that you can’t help but take to. He’s a right old fashioned little lad don’t you think. It’s to be hoped that he manages to win a chess game before he goes hysterical altogether as he keeps losing and, much to his dad’s annoyance, his school work is suffering. Oh no not his schoolwork, he will be in the bad books although I would have thought that the school teachers can’t teach him so much as he is a right little fountain of all knowledge!

I must say that I do enjoy watching the soaps and I must have found them to be worth watching as I have watched them all since they were first screened. Some people don’t like them but I do and will carry on watching while they are there.

Brookside was our favourite and to this day I can’t understand why they got rid of it when it was so popular. Many people wanted it to carry on and it was brilliant at the time and easily the best soap. Don’t they do that when a show is popular though.

Neighbours is getting the axe too. It’s the last Holby City this week which Jane and I enjoy a lot and will be sad to lose. Why oh why do they axe popular things instead of some of the rubbish that’s on TV. It amazes me. People have fought to keep Holby City and Neighbours but the powers that be aren’t going to be moved, the spoilsports. We will have to bend to their will and hope they don’t axe any more. What do you think?
