It’s a mixed bag of chatter from me today – Weather, Weight and Washing!
Weather, Weight and Washing!
We’ll start with the weather – everyone else does! Are you all ok after all the wind and rain? It wasn’t quite as bad as we thought, here on the seafront, although bad enough.
You get so used to wind rattling round the house that you tend to switch it off. It’s amazing to watch the sea when it’s bad and we are inside. But I don’t fancy their chances if anyone gets too near to the massive waves that come with storms. Many people have been pulled into the sea and drowned.
You just can’t tell some people, though it’s not exciting when you do get dragged in. The power of the waves is enormous and so heavy. Get too near and you haven’t a chance – never mind the risk to the coastguards who have to face these seas to try and rescue people!
Jane went to Blackpool on the early shift last Thursday to do some videos. She’s fallen back on her popular vlogs due to her old mum, that’s me. I’m a right pain in the neck I keep telling myself, having to ask my family to help me so much. Although I am trying hard to get walking and standing again. I’m determined I’ll get there.
I can walk very short distances with a stick and someone’s arm to guide me, so that’s not bad from someone who couldn’t stand up four weeks ago.
Clapping Weight On
Anyway, she rang to say she’d been in McDonalds for a pit-stop for a drink and a biscuit. Her back was aching and she knew it would be a late lunch for her. But her dear dad is on chef duty when she’s not there, so he left her lunch ready, followed by cherry crumble.
They’re all clapping weight on. We usually have a yoghurt or similar after lunch, But because I’d gone down to six stones in the hospital, I was under strict instructions to put weight on so they’re stuffing me with things that are high calorie. As a result I’m now seven stones and I feel better for it.
Another stone to get me back to my eight which I was before this escapade, hopefully will make me feel stronger. I was rather like a bag of bones, with black hands and arms from all the injections and cannulas. It looked awful I can tell you. If anybody had seen them they would have written me off!
Having gone out before 9am, Jane wasn’t back until going on for two. We hardly see her now as she’s trying to pick the business back up that’s been neglected since last October because of me. Pest that I am.
On Washing Duty!
Derek gets the job of getting my bath ready when she’s not in. At least now I can get clean thanks to my bath seat, thank goodness. I just love my bath and didn’t have one for the two months I spent in hospital. I had bed baths, but there’s nothing like a soak is there, mmm it makes me feel so clean and nice.
Somebody has to dry the parts I can’t reach, especially as I’ve got rib pain again, so he does a good job of sorting me out when he’s on duty. There were a couple of blowing and puffing incidents the last twice, but he’s doing ok is the old lad! He’s doing the not bad at cooking and gets the tea ready most days. It’s a good job I’ve trained both hubby and Kevin to be able to cook have an idea of how to run the house. Ironing is outside their skill-set, they sort of look the other way when that’s mentioned. But between them they are doing a good job.
Dust if you must…
It’s strange sitting there and watching other people doing things you once did so easily but can’t now. They keep telling me that I must be getting better as I keep nagging “have they done this or that” and “are you mopping the floor”. As well as noticing dust on things. I’m itching to do some dusting on my level, but I’m not quite ready yet, although not long I hope.
I’m trying not to be a pest as life is so busy here anyway, although we are having plenty of laughs on the way I might add. Well you might as well laugh, as the alternative is to cry. I lost my tears many years ago, I think I’m all cried out with all the stress and illness that’s come my way.
It’s not me, as I used to be the most sentimental weepy thing you could wish to meet. I even used to feel sorry for newly washed milk bottles that I had to put out on the step in rain. I mean I ask you, how daft is that but it’s true.
Anyway you lovely people that’s me done for today with my mixed bag of Weather, Weight and Washing, so I’ll talk to you next time.
