Welcome to the the bit of the north west UK coastline where you’ll find Blackpool. Between the Rivers Wyre and Ribble there’s a whole world of interesting things. Welcome to Visit Fylde Coast – this is your online resource that’s packed full of interesting things!

Are we the council? No! We are The Rabbit Patch – a small creative business in sunny Cleveleys. And we love where we live so much that we conceived, created and publish Visit Fylde Coast. It’s all online – with websites, social media, loads of YouTube videos and a weekly email newsletter. Welcome to Visit Fylde Coast – it’s all designed to showcase and share this place with you!
Our mission is:
To share the wonders of this coast through a positive and enthusiastic media product, with all the other like minded people out there
We’ll help you to make the most of your visit! Whether that’s virtually from the comfort of your home, or in person with a day, short break or longer stay. We’ve got something for everyone – take a look and make sure you’re seeing everything.
This overview page signposts you to what’s here. There are LOTS more pages to explore across all of Visit Fylde Coast!
A bit first about The Rabbit Patch…
Once upon a time, we lived in a hilly spot in Yorkshire… In winter the sky looked dark, and we couldn’t see the sea. Every which way we turned when we left the house was a hill, and winter seemed to drag on forever. We could see a little glimmer of a red setting sun between the 50’ trees behind our house and dreamed of its rays hitting the west-coast water.
Then one day we came for a day trip to this new place we’d found called Cleveleys. Or Cle-ve-leys as an old neighbour called it when he came on holiday to this little known and slightly exotic sounding place in the 1950’s.
And why The Rabbit Patch? Well it’s the name of our family design business, so called because I kept rabbits at the time! That was way back in 1993. Thirty odd years later we’re internet publishers – and community volunteers!
Let’s Buy a House…
‘Shall we have a look in the estate agents at the end of the high street’ I famously said on a day trip to our new favourite place.
‘This would be perfect for you. It doesn’t have a kitchen or bathroom, but you can buy a bathroom suite for £100’ the estate agent said. Another long story, several months and a guardian angel (yes really) later… We were ensconced in our very own building site, with no running water, kitchen, heating or carpets. This is how we lived for those first miserable and cold months!

Fast forward and we’ve got running water, radiators and curtains, and are well and truly in love with the place we now call home. This episode of Vlog with a View explains it all…

A place to fall in love with…
We love the lightness and the brightness, despite the endless wind. The winters seem to pass in a flash, with bright open skies and sunsets and walks on the beach whatever the weather.

We’ve met some really great people, made truly good friends, been made to feel so very welcome, and feel so much at home. It’s made me feel better about my own old age when it comes. With no kids of my own, the old age that my grandma had made me fearful for my own. Here there’s so much to do, so many groups, and so many nice people who’ll just help you out.
Where it all began…
Having previously holidayed in Cornwall every year, we can’t see the difference between Falmouth harbour and Freeport marina (now of course called Affinity). And because we can, we build our first website ‘Visit Cleveleys‘. Launched way back in January 2010, its aim has always been to share what we love with everyone else and let everyone else see what we can see. The rest is now history. Visit Cleveleys grew into Visit Fylde Coast and the product it is today, and became our life.

Why do we do what we do? Because it’s a great place, with great people, and we just love it all!
We love the Facebook chat about all kinds of things from lost dogs, to high street shops and endless photos of sunsets. The things we’ve found out, the people we’ve met and being involved behind the scenes of the tourism machine that makes this coast tick. We love finding interesting things out so that we can tell you!
On one of our passing birthdays we shared a bit more about why we do what we do. Happy birthday to us!

Visit our very own Emporium…
You’ll have enjoyed thousands of our amazing photos. But did you know that we’ve got an artist in the family? Derek Littlewood has painted many of the iconic Fylde Coast buildings and views, capturing them in the Seaside Emporium range of art prints for your home.
In 2025, Derek and The Rabbit Patch gifted the rights to the catalogue of images to Care for Cleveleys. Now, volunteers make and frame the prints which you can buy in the Care for Cleveleys Shop. See your favourite Fylde Coast places, captured in amazing paintings, on your walls at home. Plus gifts, handmade crafts and much more.

Help us to help you…
We don’t receive any funding to publish Visit Fylde Coast. We do it because we can, and because we love where we live. Advertising revenue and your donations enable us to produce what’s still the only product of its type that celebrates the whole of the Fylde Coast.
Promote a company
Advertising revenue means that we can keep the lights on. It costs a considerable amount of money just to run the servers, backup and technical things that keep Visit Fylde Coast online.
On top of that we’ve spent years working hard to build up our reach and readership. It takes an enormous amount of time and effort to publish the Visit Fylde Coast product. We deliver a continuous stream of information through web pages, social media pages and the enewsletter.
You can see that the financial support of advertisers is crucial to its continuation and future development.
Advertising doesn’t just help us – it really helps your business. We’ve developed a unique package to help you to promote your company to our huge audience of readers. It’s probably the most cost effective advertising you’ll find.
Advertising options include the use of our social media/Facebook and Twitter, the email newsletter, Events Calendar and so much more.
Promoting Community Groups
We always have and always will promote anything for free for community groups which don’t have any paid employees. We can offer a write up about your group – why you formed, what you do, what kind of help you need and what your group offers. You can also list your events in the Events Calendar.

Errors
Visit Fylde Coast and group websites are continually being improved. There is always work going on behind the scenes to give you a better experience. We also have an ongoing review process for the many thousands of pages of content, where we review and update everything – filling in any gaps. It goes without saying that we ALWAYS strive to include correct, accurate and factual information. There’s no fake news here! But if you spot an error or something you think should be a priority for review, please let us know.
