You’ve probably passed Windy Harbour Holiday Park without realising it. It’s situated just off the main junction of the new bypass road, the A586 Garstang New Road, and the A585 – the road out to the M55. In an idyllic rural setting it’s on the banks of the River Wyre – but just a short distance from the hustle, bustle and fun of Blackpool.
£75m Plan for Windy Harbour Leisure Development
There’s already a wide range of holiday accommodation, including static caravans, lodges and fully serviced touring pitches on site. As well as holiday bookings, you can own your own holiday home there. And in July 2024 Lancashire-based owners Partington’s submitted an ambitious planning application to Fylde Council. They want to build an extraordinary new North West leisure destination of ‘aspirational escapism’ at Windy Harbour.
This incredible new development represents a £75 million investment into the region as well as the creation of hundreds of jobs for the local leisure and hospitality industry. It will sit within the expansive 166 acre natural site, currently surrounding the 64 acre Windy Harbour Holiday Park. The new development will feature beautiful new holiday lodges. A stunning luxury spa and lifestyle complex and full leisure facilities. All with a focus on harmonious integration into the landscape.
Windy Harbour will be meticulously designed to offer a secluded space where you can escape the ordinary. This ground-breaking new development will welcome visitors and guests looking for rejuvenating experiences, great food, high-end entertainment and world-class service.
Planning the new Windy Harbour
Partington’s Chief Executive Officers, Rob Kearsley and Andrea Challis recently purchased the site. The brother and sister team are fourth generation family members. They recently invested £1.5 million into the exciting new Walterz Entertainment Centre at their Newton Hall Holiday Park in Staining. That’s part of their continuing commitment to creating memorable leisure and holiday experiences, with an emphasis on creativity and innovation.
Planning permission is already in place to build holiday and leisure facilities on the site. The recently amended application for Windy Harbour proposes a phased development over a number of years.
It begins with a lodge park of 495 tailor-made holiday homes and extensive leisure facilities. Beautiful bespoke barns over 3,408 sqm will house them. It includes swimming pools, state-of-the-art gym plus bar, restaurant and entertainment facilities.
Further proposals include a spectacular 2,544 sqm luxury spa and wellbeing centre. It will offer pioneering holistic concepts to perfectly intertwine health and nature. The application also includes scenic cycle and running tracks, nature walks and plans for a 102-bedroom hotel.
