From Fleetwood to Lytham, this patch of north west coastline is blooming marvellous! Most of the individual towns participate in Fylde Coast In Bloom, through their own individual Council areas.
The haul of results each year reflects the incredible efforts of both the volunteers and council staff who pull together to improve all of the areas where they live and work. We all benefit from the work of all the volunteers across the Fylde Coast. They put countless hours in to make our area as special as it is.
Meet some of the Fylde Coast In Bloom Teams
Most of the towns of the Fylde Coast take part and enter the annual RHS Britain In Bloom competition.

Towns in Fylde and Wyre enter the Royal Horticultural Society Britain In Bloom competition. Meanwhile in Blackpool they have their own local competition, organised and run within the town – Blackpool In Bloom.
Join your Local Britain In Bloom
Britain In Bloom is the UK’s longest running garden competition, held nationally by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS).
Categories include large and small town and village, awards for coastal towns, private gardens, caravan parks and many more.
Being part of your local team is great fun. It’s gets you out and about, you’ll make new friends and enjoy the camaraderie. There are many benefits to being involved:
- Make your town or village look attractive and appealing, cleaner and greener
- Increase visitors numbers and strengthen your local economy
- Grow community spirit among local residents
- Stronger sense of pride of place, which helps to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour
- Learn a lot about gardening and growing
