Look up to see a Super Moon

It’s a comforting presence in the night sky, inextricably linked to the ebb and flow of the sea that surrounds us. But at certain times it puts on an amazing spectacle for us. Look up to see a Super Moon – in March it’s a Super Worm Moon!

Look up to see a Super Moon in March

The Super Worm Moon is the first or only full moon in March. It’s so called because it’s the end of winter and the time when worms and other wrigglies tend to first appear.

It is also known as the Crow Moon, Sap Moon and Lenten Moon.

The moon will get bigger then smaller over a couple of nights, But the best time to see it at its biggest is 7.48pm on Sunday, 28 March 2021.

The last big Super Moon was the Snow Moon, on 27 February 2021.

What is a Super Moon?

A Super Full Moon is when a full moon is at its closest point to Earth. Because it’s a full moon and so near to us it looks as much as 14% bigger and 30% brighter in the night sky. The gravitational pull of the moon is also why the sea has tides here on earth.
