BLACKPOOL’S BACK! RESORT HOTELS AND ATTRACTIONS GET SET FOR MAY 17 OPENING. Fylde Coast area holidays are back after lockdown!
Blackpool is preparing to put out the welcome mat! The Government has now confirmed that remaining restrictions on the resort’s tourism industry will be lifted from 17 May 2021.
The Prime Minister’s roadmap announcement paves the way for indoor hospitality and attractions to reopen. Show venues, hotels and guesthouses will also reopen. Foreign holidays might be a no-no for now – but you can enjoy Fylde Coast area holidays after lockdown!
The majority of Britons are predicted to choose a staycation this summer rather than fly to one of the current ‘green list’ destinations. Data from myGP revealed that 73% of British holidaymakers are planning a staycation this summer, rather than travelling abroad.
Fylde Coast Area Holidays are Back After Lockdown
Hundreds of hotels and guesthouses will now be allowed to reopen to overnight visitors. Including the brand new Premier Inn North Pier at the site of the historic Yates’s Wine Lodge site in Talbot Square.
Holiday accommodation along the whole Fylde Coast area will also reopen after lockdown. You can also choose from places to stay in Fleetwood, Cleveleys, St Annes and Lytham.
Last month, self-catering accommodation and outdoor hospitality and attractions reopened. Including Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Blackpool Zoo and the three piers.
Cllr Gillian Campbell is Cabinet Member for Tourism & Culture for Blackpool Council. She said it’s “brilliant news” for the tourism industry.
Cllr Campbell said: “The past 15 months have presented some of the most difficult and challenging times in Blackpool’s long tourism history.
“The stop-start nature of lockdowns and tier restrictions wreaked serious financial pressure on our tourism and hospitality businesses, large and small. We are thrilled that from 17 May we can get back to showcasing all that we have to offer.”

Each time we’ve been to Blackpool the place is awash with scaffolding and workmen. Hotels and businesses have been making the most of the closed period to get all kinds of building work completed. It’s all to ensure that visitors can enjoy a great, safe experience when you return.

Blackpool Council is supporting the reopening and recovery of the resort’s tourism industry with a £1m package of support. Enjoy a two-month extension to the traditional Illuminations season this year – until January 3, 2022.
Additional events and destination marketing is intended to give businesses an opportunity to recoup some of the losses they’ve incurred this year. The national lockdown has already wiped out the lucrative Easter period.
