Have you all been to Cleveleys prom to see all the shenanigans going on with the Star Wars filming? If you’ve tried to travel by car you’ll know what I mean as the place has been very busy. The town seems to have Star Wars fever and it was just about gridlocked on Saturday when Kevin went to get our fish and chip lunch. It’s a new rule that we’ve been trying on a Saturday so that we women can have a day off from cooking.
We’d all forgotten that the prom was closed off and he had to go via the main road. Easier said than done apparently, as the place was jammed with traffic everywhere you looked. We’ve never seen that since the Riverdance sank! It was so bad that night that we weren’t surprised that it went down, the wind was horrendous. Anyway, back to my story, I’m good at wandering off my path aren’t I, sorry for that folks.
Star Wars Fever = Trial by Chip Shop!
He was half an hour just getting to the chippy which is about four minutes on the prom. Then there was a queue a mile long after which he had to come back. It’s a good job that we’ve found out that a quick whizz in the microwave does the trick. If your dinner is cooling down, pop your plate of food in for about 25-30 seconds and it comes out lovely and hot, unspoilt with the batter just the same.
Kevin might have been amazed at the amount of cars that had come from goodness knows where. But I bet the tills were ringing in Cleveleys! The chip-shop man said it had been manic in there, so at least someone is profiting from Star Wars fever. Jane had known a while that it was happening and kept quiet. But she was determined to get the story out first when she could and she did. Although the Gazette had it on the front page the day after, and as a lot do, act as if they were first on the scene. Not cricket is it!
She’s been going everyday to video the goings on. It’s been a hive of activity and the whole place is buzzing. There’s an atmosphere about the whole place that’s been missing for a long time. I think it’s a combination of people wanting to see something they never normally get chance to see – and a dose of good old dose of nosiness. It’s a bit of excitement after lockdown – it’s been such a long time with nothing happening.
Are you that woman?
The ambulance woman on duty shouted to Jane and waved and said she’d been watching the videos, as did quite a few other people much to her embarrassment. She’s never been keen on being in spotlights! Consequently she’s got friendly with some of them who of course aren’t allowed to tell the public anything. They’ve all signed non-disclosure agreements and have to keep their mouths firmly closed! Â
Jane had suggested they protect the palm trees before the heavy rain and winds on Monday and Tuesday. Exotic palm trees aren’t exactly the sort of plant that likes heavy salty winds! In the event it looks like they all blew over and sorted their protection out for themselves.

There are going to be 12 episodes of a spin-off called ‘Andor’ made for TV, to be released next year. It’s all exciting stuff I must stay, with the proper filming taking place on Wednesday and Thursday.

Who the actors are I don’t know as I’ve never watched Star Wars or Star Trek. They just don’t appeal to me, even though I am normally a sci-fi fan. All will be revealed in the passage of time I suppose so watch this space!
