What’s Happening at Anchorsholme Beach?
Blackpool Council in partnership with Balfour Beatty are progressing the Anchorsholme Coast Protection Scheme between Kingsway and the tram stop at Little Bispham public toilets. This is a coast defence project which will protect over 5,000 properties from flooding and help save the sandy beach from coastal erosion, ensuring that homes and businesses remain safeguarded for years to come.
At Anchorsholme beach, rocks are being overlaid onto the sloping concrete revetment. When that work is complete, five new rock groynes are being installed to help to reduce the risk of erosion and overtopping.
Call into the on-site information cabin to find out more. The cabin is located at the seaward side of the tram stop/toilet building and will be open during site hours, Monday to Friday. On Thursday mornings between 9-12 you can speak to Jane Littlewood, Public Information Officer, and find out exactly what’s happening and why. Have a look at plans and find out everything you want to know. Jane might be out at the seafront taking photos/making video, so please wait.
