Burns Night
Robert Burns was born on 25 January 1759 (died 21 July 1796) and was a famous Scottish poet.
The first Burns Supper was held just 5 years after his death in 1801. Typically you’ll eat haggis with mashed potato and mashed swede, drink Scotch whisky and recite his poems. The evening usually ends by joining hands and singing Auld Lang Syne.
Hundreds of years later, we’re still celebrating the event, which brightens up the dreary month of January.
