At least the daftness in our house keeps us laughing through lockdown.
The other day when I fancied some cornflakes for breakfast, I did as I usually do and got my box of cereal and dish out, and left my coffee ready for the hot water before I went to bed. I’m usually a bit foggy in the morning, nothing unusual there then. Anything that speeds up getting my food in the morning is OK by me.
Into the kitchen I went this particular morning, and was met by my bowl with a single cornflake in the bottom of it and a knife and fork on either side. I had a chuckle to myself and thought it must have been hubby as he is always making faces out of veg, and stacks things on top of each other and all the rest of the daft things he does.

I was wrong, it must be catching as it was Kevin who had done it. Whether he thought I should go on a diet I’m not sure but it gave me a laugh at the start of the day which can’t be bad can it.
There does seem to be a lot of jokes going on at my expense at the moment at different things I say and do. It seems to amuse them all, I don’t know why, but if you heard the guffaws they come out with it must have been something strange.
When I ask what they are laughing at Kevin usually says ‘because you’re funny’ and then carries on laughing, even though I still don’t get what I’d said to make them nearly choke on their food.
Maybe it’s because I’m like Long John Silver at the moment because for the last week or so my knees have been really, really, really painful. Maybe the sight of me trying to use Jane’s crutch was one of the things that tickled them to death, I don’t know.
But when you try to go upstairs with a crutch and the worst knee is the one you need to push yourself up on the step, it was a recipe for disaster. Especially as Kevin still hasn’t finished decorating the staircase. I thought I would be for the chop if I wobbled onto the wall he’d just emulsioned. So in the end I packed it in the crutch for going upstairs before I crashed down them or slithered down the newly painted wall.
Laughing through Lockdown
The fun starts when I try to get in and out of the bath.
My lot all know that I would be soooo upset if I couldn’t have my bath, which I love. But when I yelled my head off the other night for help, nobody heard me, so I thought well I can scrap that for an idea!
Eventually I contorted and did all sorts of acrobatic moves before I managed to pull myself up from my watery prison. Getting in sounds like I am a beached whale, as I have to sort of hang onto the handles and then flop down into the water, causing this tsunami up the back of the bath!
Up to now I am coping, which I hope carries on, as the thought of three of them rushing to drag me out of the bath leaves me a bit urrrrrgh to say the least!
My left knee currently has very sharp knives being jabbed into it, along with it hurting. I can’t walk properly either as my knee can’t bend. The trouble is, I have a lot of pain in my shoulder joints, back and neck, so for example when I try to get out of the bath, the angle I have to go at means I have to use my right arm and left leg. Yes, I bet you get it, these are the worst affected, so it’s not exactly easy to push myself up at the moment. It’s lively isn’t it.
It’s given them a lot of laughs I can tell you, but in spite of laughing at myself, I keep thinking that I want it to stop now as I’ve had enough of limping around the house.
Going up and downstairs to our lounge takes me nearly a fortnight as I have to take a step at a time, slowly, very slowly. So if they’re wanting to go up I have to let them all go before me or they would have dropped asleep at the bottom of the stairs.
At least it’s a change from talking about the dreaded virus which is all around us. I hope you’re all safe from it and your families, so take care and I’ll talk to you soon.
