Dead Bodies on the Beach

Hello everyone, I thought I would start my blog by telling you about goings on in our house over the last few days and dead bodies on the beach.

You might all have heard the story about the ‘leg’ that was reported on the beach? Well we were watching all that drama unfold, right in front of our eyes. It was a few days ago so you might know the story.

Anyway, we were having our usual five minutes after a meal when we heard the sound of police sirens. Now if you knew my hubby, you will know that when he hears any kind of siren he swings into action and just has to find out what is going on.

This was no exception, especially when police got out of the vans right in front of our house, and went onto the beach. Kevin and hubby were watching all this with great interest and couldn’t resist the temptation. So Kevin, aka Inspector Clouseau, went across to the sea wall to see what was what.

Dead Bodies on the Beach

Apparently, somebody had seen what looked like the top of a human leg, from the thigh to the knee. They assumed it was part of a chopped up body which must have arrived from the sea. By this time, quite a few nosey people had gathered to see what was what. To be honest, when Kevin showed us the picture, it did look like a thigh that had been in the sea for quite some time, as it wasn’t in good shape.

Of course, our imaginations went into overtime and there we were wondering if the ‘body part’ belonged to someone who had been murdered gangster style, or what. Eventually, after spending a while looking at the ‘thing’ the police went back to their vans. Emergency over, the ‘thigh’ was a dead animal which was rotting!

Washed Up Animals

Talk about an overactive imagination, anyway, they left it there to carry on ponging and believe me they do smell awful. It’s indescribable, sweet, rotting awful smell.

Sheep, porpoises, seals, you name it we’ve had them all washed up from the sea, and smelling terrible. It’s quite upsetting really, wondering what happened to make an animal end up like that. The council usually come and take whatever is dead away, after someone reports it.

Emergency Services?

You know I’ve just said that hubby has to see what’s going on when he hears a siren? Well, he’s just come into the room, gone to the window and seen an ambulance parked straight across from us. Nobody was anywhere to be seen, which flummoxed the poor lad.

Then he saw them come from someone’s house, but he didn’t see which one. So he’s left wondering if one of our neighbours has been in trouble. But they didn’t bring anyone to the ambulance with them and strolled across the road. So we reached the conclusion that there wasn’t a crisis unfolding near to us, so that mystery thickens!

The spectacle of the dead bodies on the beach carried on for a few more days. The police came back and had another look. Then some ambulance people came and had a look.

Here’s a short video that Jane did, featuring this weeks dead bodies on the beach!

More Dead Bodies and Strange Moments…

Back to the rest of the house now with Kevin being the next to have strange moments. He’d had a performance with dead batteries, not dead bodies this time. After a kerfuffle he’d managed to jump start the car which had a dead battery.

Having got it going, he’d taken it out of the garage as he wanted something from the deepest bowels of the hidden space. Fine until then. The first we knew anything was amiss when we heard this yell. Thinking that he’d hurt himself we ran to the kitchen door to see what he’d done. All we could do was laugh when we got outside.

The large emulsion paint cans were in the doorway of the garage so he’d moved them down the drive. Yes you guessed it, he caught one while moving the car… I’ll call it a bucket of paint, had gone over, opened and gone all over the drive.

Kicking the bucket

Not to be content with that, he tripped over one and went flying, kicking the bucket and paint a bit further. There he was surrounded by a sea of white, scratching his head at what he’d done.

Then, he got the hosepipe to clear it away but it wasn’t strong enough. So he got the jet wash to do a better job – as he knew he’d be in for it if he left a white drive. Next he tripped over the hosepipe…

Then he put the jet wash on and it kicked the white, painty water all over the house wall, windows and himself. You can imagine what it was like, especially when he said ‘that wasn’t supposed to happen’ Frank Spencer style. Of course you can imagine us watching all this. We were killing ourselves with laughing at him and his antics.

Aiming for more dead bodies?

Then later after tea, he was washing up (he’s a good lad). I went into the kitchen and there he was with this grin on his face, holding his hand up.

I didn’t quite get what he was doing with his hand up in the air in front of my eyes. Then I saw the plaster wrapped around his finger.

He’d only gone and picked up the sharpest knife in the house and managed to slit his finger open, although why he thought it was funny I’m not sure. He couldn’t stop saying he was Frank Spencer resurrected because so many things had happened while Jane called him Mr. Thirteen, which he certainly was. Goodness knows what he’ll do next, I dread to think!
