Hello again everyone, are you all coping with the virus that has swept our country? Things are getting back to normal, but I’m still stuck indoors along with hubby. We haven’t been out for three months, except the garden of course.
I’m still feeling fragile at times after my recent illness. But I keep telling myself when I have a bad day that I’m not a young whippersnapper. I can’t bounce back like a rubber ball. The trouble is, I don’t know about you, but my body isn’t in sync with my brain. I still think I’m somewhere in my thirties or forties, yes I know, dream on. But you set off with such a willing heart to do things and before you know it, you have to sit down and rest your aching bones!
Back to Normal
I can tell life is getting back to normal. The other day I was trying to find an old toothbrush which we keep to use to get into fiddly bits of anything, ornaments, corners, whatever. There’s only Derek who doesn’t use an electric toothbrush, as his stubborn side comes out every time the subject is mentioned. As a result, we use his old toothbrushes to do various jobs with.
As I wanted to do such a little job, there was I shouting out who had moved it from where it’s usually kept. Only to be met by silence, that blooming Mr Nobody, I wish he would move house.
Toothbrush wars
Anyway, into the kitchen came Kevin wielding a toothbrush just as I had picked hubbies toothbrush up. I was inspecting it to see if it was brushed away to nothing so that I could pinch it, as I don’t think he’d appreciate me using it on something dirty and then putting it back in the cup for him to use!
However he lunged at me in a fencing position, toothbrush at the ready. So as you do, we had a fencing match with our respective toothbrushes. That was when I knew I was feeling better and back to normal. Kevin and I were our usual daft selves!
Lots more daft things have taken place as usual in our house. I must admit, it would have been very boring if we didn’t, especially after three months.
And Back to Normal Indoors
And at long last, Kevin moved onto decorating the kitchen, much to my relief. He’s been busy with work which has stopped things. Even that was done slowly because of work. He did the ceiling one day, two days later he managed to get the walls done. Then two days later saw him doing the gloss paint.
At last, everything is now put back into its place and order is restored. Much to my relief after a week of untidiness. Anyone knows me knows I can’t stand being in a mess. It’s just one of things with me, you know, like a bee in your bonnet. But I can’t stand having a mess all over the place.
The thought of having ‘stuff’ piled up in corners and things left out for ages drives me mad. I have to move everything of mine as I go along as no one would put my stuff away. But my lot think there’s a tidying up fairy that mysteriously appears and tidies it all away without anyone noticing.
I keep telling them that if they don’t want me to nag and make their ears bleed, all they have to do is put things away after themselves. Now is that too much to ask!! I know there will be lots of people out there who don’t mind piles of this, that and the other left where it drops. If they can just ignore it, good for them, I can’t. So I’ve come to the conclusion that my family enjoy seeing me with steam coming out of my ears and will carry on doing just what they want. Give me strength!!
Watch with Jane
Have you seen Jane’s videos that she’s been doing of the area that we live in? They’re very good, if I say so myself.
Just go onto YouTube and the channel is Visit Fylde Coast. Have a nosey.
When lockdown started, she started going out on the beach to video it for the people who couldn’t get here.
Three months later, she’s getting into her stride. She’s plodding about our adopted home to share it with anyone who can’t be here.
Well I didn’t know that!
She very carefully goes out in the morning to different places, while keeping away from everyone! The videos show what our towns have to offer, along with some history and interesting stuff thrown in.
The reaction from people has been amazing. Thanking her for letting them see what it’s like. Or showing people who love to come here reminders of what they will find when they can come back properly.
We normally watch the video while we are letting our dinners go down. I must say I’ve learned a lot from her. About the coast, sea and the history of the place which I didn’t know – and we live here.
It’s been so well received but I can understand why, because when we’ve watched them, she is just Jane. What you see is what you get, a naturally talkative chatterbox. As she says, who’d think that after all these years of talking to herself, it would be a useful skill!
She’s talked to herself since she was a little girl, no imaginary friend or anything like that. She still does it to this day. So the words on her videos trip off her tongue just as they always have. For me, that’s what’s good about it, it’s a real person being herself. There’s no frills and fuss, so please have a look and maybe a laugh now and then at her antics. (Trips, slips and mishaps aren’t edited out either!) See what you are missing!
Footnote from Jane: Please SUBSCRIBE to our channel, pretty please!! I’m just a few subscribers away from being able to earn some money from it. Even I have to eat! This is one of the ways that we can earn a living. Then we can carry on producing the content that you love.
