Cakes are delightful – if (like us) you’ve got a sweet tooth! But there are other ways to get a sweet kick that are slightly better for you. A simple fruit smoothie is one of them!
This is our quick, clean and clever fruit smoothie recipe. We’re big fans of quick, clean and clever food preparation here at Visit Fylde Coast 🙂

To make a quick and easy fruit smoothie, you’ll need a blender. A stick blender will do the job just fine, or you can use a jug blender/food processor. They’re handy for all kinds of recipes.
You can find the blender that we have on our Amazon Storefront here. It’s in the Home & Garden list. If you decide to invest in one we will earn an affiliate commission when you go through our link. It all helps us to keep producing the great content that you enjoy.
Recipe for a Simple Fruit Smoothie
Make your smoothie with tinned fruit or fresh. It’s a great way to use up squashy fruit and bananas that have gone past their best. You can also use frozen fruit too – it’s cheap and convenient and has an intense flavour. Why don’t you try it!

Ingredients
Makes four servings of quite a thick consistency
- 1 banana
- tin of peaches
- 1 tin of strawberries, raspberries or whatever you like
- 1/3 of a large tub of plain yoghurt, or a full small carton
- dash of water to suit
How to Make your Fruit Smoothie
Drain the juice/syrup from the fruit if you use tinned. Otherwise it adds quite a lot of sugar to your recipe. We’re not trying to give you a sugar rush!

If you’re using a stick blender, put your fruit in a large jug with plenty of space for blending. I use a two pint one.
Peel and chop the banana into chunks and throw into the pot.
Add the yogurt and a dash of tap water to make it the consistency you want.
Blend.
You can serve it straight away, or refrigerate until ready. Eat the same day.
Different ways to make a Fruit Smoothie
There are lots of different ways that you can make yours. Experiment with what you’ve got in the house and see which becomes your favourite. Make them with fruit juice, tinned or fresh fruit, and whatever you want to try!
You could make a smoothie with yoghurt, milk or ice cream. Add water or more solid food to make it as thick or runny as you prefer.
You could try freezing this recipe to make a tasty chilled dessert. Enjoy!
