Blackpool Council and a local business have immortalised the spirit of the coronavirus pandemic outside the Victoria Hospital. Visitors to the Urgent Care Unit are now greeted by a Love BPL NHS message, written on the road!
The mural on Whinney Heys Road outside Blackpool Victoria Hospital shows support for our NHS heroes and key workers. It displays a blue love heart and reads “BPL NHS.”
Despite the difficult times and effects COVID-19 has had on council services, highways teams continue with essential work right across Blackpool. They’re keeping roads and pavements safe for everyone, including key workers and emergency services.
We Love BPL NHS
Blackpool Council’s Director of Community and Environmental Services, John Blackledge, said: “We are incredibly proud of all the key workers who go above and beyond to help keep Blackpool safe each day and wanted to show our appreciation for them. Thanks also go out to our own highways teams who, despite the current situation, have adapted a new way of working. They’re continuing to deliver essential work across the town, undertaking highways inspections and ensuring roads are safe for key workers, emergency vehicles and residents.
Thank you to all Key Workers
A1 Streamline kindly agreed to design and produce the message free of charge as a gesture of goodwill. It will remain a permanent display of appreciation for those who continue to save lives.
Blackpool residents are encouraged to support NHS staff and key workers by sharing their thanks on social media using the hashtag #ThankYouNHS #HighwaysHeros
We encourage people to keep a safe distance from others, stay indoors as much as possible and wash their hands regularly.
