Blue Skies Hospital Fund
The charity works to raise money which is used to enhance care provided to patients by the Hospital Trust. Patients might be residents of Blackpool, Lancashire, or South Cumbria, or one of the millions of holidaymakers who visit each year. The aim is to help improve the hospital experience for all patients.
Blue Skies Events
Throughout the year the Blue Skies team and volunteers organise an amazing series of fundraising events, including:
- Dragon Boat Festival – each May at Fairhaven Lake
- Memory Walk – September at Fleetwood seafront
- Walkies for Wards – in December at Lytham Hall
Cardiac Centre Fundraising
The Lancashire Cardiac Centre, based at Blackpool Victoria Hospital, launched its own newly branded charitable fund in 2013.
The regional centre of excellence caters for cardiac and lung patients from across the North West and South Cumbria. They launched their Heart of Gold Charitable Fund through Trust charity Blue Skies Hospitals Fund.
Head of Fundraising, Kathy Ancell, said: “The Heart of Gold Charitable Fund is a division of Trust charity Blue Skies Hospitals Fund. It serves to provide the Lancashire Cardiac Centre with financial support to enhance patient care. There are numerous ways you can get involved, such as organising an event, making a donation or taking part in a sponsored activity.
Cardiac Services Directorate Manager is Jane Meek. She said: “As a centre of excellence, the Lancashire Cardiac Centre offers patients the very latest in diagnostics, specialist cardiology procedures and surgical techniques. The centre monitors the outcomes of its work closely and is consistently placed amongst the leading cardiac centres in the country.”
