In memory of Bobby Ball – the much loved comic and entertainer who lived here on the Fylde Coast. Sadly, he passed away at 9.30pm on Wednesday 28 October 2020 after testing positive for Covid-19.

Previously, he was taken into Blackpool Victoria Hospital for tests for a suspected chest infection. Unfortunately, tests confirmed coronavirus.
“His wife Yvonne said the hospital and staff could not have been more wonderful, as they were outstanding in their care of duty and they did everything possible for him and she cannot praise them enough.”
Bobby’s long standing comedy partner Tommy Cannon said “Rock on, my good friend, I can’t believe this, I’m devastated.”
Did you see Cannon and Ball at Viva?
The two funny men frequently appeared live on stage at Blackpool seafront venue Viva. In fact their last show at Viva was on Friday 9 October.
A statement on the Viva Blackpool website says “Our deepest condolences go out to Bobby’s wife of 46 years Yvonne, his sons Rob and Darren, his grandchildren and all the family. Also to his partner in comedy Tommy, and his manager Phil Dale. A legend. A friend. Rest in Peace Bobby.”

The Cannon and Ball Show
Bobby Ball was born on 28 January 1944 as Robert Harper. He and Tommy met when working as welders and developed their comedy show which they played on the club circuit.
After being spotted by a TV scout, they went on to have enormous success over many years. The Cannon and Ball show ran for nine years between 1979 and 1988. In 2005 with friend Tommy by his side, Bobby took part in I’m a Celebrity Get me Out of Here!
Bobby Ball lived in Lytham St Annes and was well known for being involved with and supporting many good causes.

Bobby Ball lives on here on the Fylde Coast. In August 2022, a life-size statue of him opened in Lytham’s Lowther Gardens, celebrating his life.
