I know my blog is a bit random today, but when you don’t go out and the world has slowed down and the only subject is the virus, it’s difficult to know what to write about. So bear with me, I’m sure it will all be back to normal eventually.
What Virus?
It seems that everyone has come to the seaside this week, at least that what it seems like. We’ve been inundated with visitors and people. People are in the sea and loads paddling, the car park and prom is chock a block, with no sense of anything being wrong, virus, what virus!
There are lots of people in the sea, wind shields and all the rest for an afternoon in the sun. No way can social distancing be carrying on and heeded to. I’m just glad I haven’t to go out among them. I hope they don’t all learn the hard way!!
Jane went to Fleetwood seafront on Wednesday to do her morning video and said it was packed with people (compared to normal) and she had a job trying to keep out of their way. Here’s the film if you haven’t already seen it.
If this is going on all over the country I wouldn’t mind betting that there is going to be another rather large spike in the virus. I can understand people who are wanting a bit of ‘normal’ whatever normal is now. But the prom in front of us isn’t even 6ft wide, so they must be passing close by each other. Anyway, that’s all I’m going to talk about the virus today as you must all be getting tired of hearing about it. I am for sure.
Terrapins and Toilets
Onto another random subject, a quick mention of my favourite subject. Toilets. Do you remember people flushing tiny terrapins down their toilets after they got over the craze and realised they didn’t want to have to care for them. After their trip through the sewage system and onto the waterways, a lot of them survived and now they are endangering the wildlife. The 5cm babies can grow to 30cm, with a life span of 50 years.

In fact there are terrapins in The Towers at Cleveleys. It’s a small woodland area, just off Victoria Road West. There’s more about The Towers here.
It is illegal to dump them and the worrying thing is that they feed on ducklings and frogs and any fish they might come across. I think I would be more scared if they got back into the toilet pan and bit you on the backside! Imagine having a tinkle and looking down and seeing one of those staring at you because you had done a wee on it. It would probably jump up and bite even harder. What with snakes coming up into toilets, rats and all the rest, I will be carefully checking when I park my derriere onto the seat that no eyes are staring up at me, perish the thought!!!
Dog Loos
While I’m talking about toilets, I must mention something that I saw in the papers. Did you know that Tottenham Hotspur have a new stadium and are preparing for lots of dogs who foul in their grounds?
Would you believe, they are installing loos for dogs. Two ‘facilities’ are being prepared for disabled owners to take their dogs to do their ‘business’. No, I didn’t know either, but it seems that the doggy loos are being prepared for assistance dogs to spend a penny.
I did wonder when I started reading the article. I didn’t know that football stadiums were overrun with dogs so it makes sense for assistance dogs and what a good idea. There are also ‘relieving stations’ at Wembley. It seems that the loos are being made into something for fans to have a laugh at, calling the stadium ‘a toilet bowl’. A twitter account showed aerial shots and joked that they had ‘left the seats up’.
I just hope the disabled person with the dog doesn’t end up being dragged to whichever corner by their dog who has ‘to go’. Now that wouldn’t be funny would it, but on the whole, I think it’s a good idea. After all, who would want to go to watch their favourite club and end up plastered in doggy poo? I bet that wouldn’t be popular.
Apple Pips
While I’m talking about dogs, did you know that apple pips are highly poisonous to dogs? Well they are. It seems that pets enjoy a crunch or two on apples, without owners knowing that the pips release cyanide.
Nobody in their right mind would take that. It can make the dog seriously ill, even killing it. I didn’t know and it’s good to know as several dogs have been taken very ill after pinching windfall apples without their owners knowing.
My stash has been nicked!
I must just finish off this blog with a final random snippet. A drug dealer dialled 999 to tell the police that his drug stash had been pinched. Talk about laugh, I bet the cops couldn’t believe their ears, the silly so and so.
An officer asked why there had been drugs on the premises and were told they were for illegal drug sale! What can you say, what a dope, pardon the pun. He was arrested as you would expect but it seems there is honesty among some thieves after all!!! Another policeman was offered drugs by a man he had arrested the week before for yes, you guessed it, selling drugs!
There’s not a lot you can say is there. I think they must be taking too much of their own drugs and don’t know whether they are coming or going!
