The Fylde Coast Responsible Business Network launched in October 2018 for businesses across the area who are committed to contributing to their communities. It’s free to any business to join the network and includes businesses in Wyre, Fylde and Blackpool.
Responsible Business Network
It’s an early morning start at the Fylde Coast Responsible Business Network meeting at the Carlton Hotel.
The Responsible Business Network is part of the Blackpool Pride of Place Partnership, managed by Business in the Community. It’s the group for businesses and organisations committed to supporting the local community.
Strategic objectives of Blackpool Pride of Place Board
- Deliver our plan to tackle deprivation through Housing, Health, Education​, Communities and Digital.
- Continue to develop the economy with a focus on job creation.
- Bring our Digital Vision to life by reducing digital poverty and inequality, improving digital skills, and supporting communities and businesses with digital.
- Reduce NEETs (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) by pioneering an approach to developing opportunities for 16-24-year-olds. 
- helping school children prepare for the world of work
- and helping long-term unemployed people back into work

Think about your own career and work life. Did you end up doing what you expected to do in life? What’s your career story?
We certainly didn’t do what we expected to. Instead, following a strange and winding path to living here at the coast and publishing your favourite online resource. Listening to people like us is inspiring to young people. It can show them what they want to do, and also what they don’t want to do in their career.
Here at Visit Fylde coast we do a lot of community work. We believe in giving back to the area in order to help it to succeed. We’ve all got our own passions and strengths – we can all contribute locally in different ways.

There’s also a careers website called Start Blackpool. Ending the young people’s myth that there are ‘no jobs in Blackpool’ it connects young people with local businesses. If you’re a business who employs young people it’s well worth registering on there to help young people to understand the local labour market.

More about the Blackpool Pride of Place Partnership
The Responsible Business Network is created and supported by the Blackpool Pride of Place partnership. It’s a flagship initiative of Business in the Community – HRH The Prince of Wales’ Responsible Business Network.
The partnership is a group of people from the business, third and public sectors who have come together to promote economic development and tackle the area’s social challenges. The aim to support the town to prosper, at the same time as reducing vulnerability and demand on what’s already an overstretched public sector. Whilst the primary focus is Blackpool, the aim is to have a halo effect along the Fylde coast and for the whole area to feel involved.
The partnership exists under the umbrella of Business in the Community. That’s a national business membership organisation which encourages responsible business. It’s the blueprint for a new approach to working with communities to determine sustainable and positive futures.
