To ‘Promenade’ was originally to dress in your fine clothes and take a stroll in a popular place. Like the seafront – or a pier like this one.

There’s the British seaside favourite of fish and chips – and of course ice cream. Choose from light snacks, meals, sandwiches, cakes and drinks.

Various other kiosks sell gifts, sweets, records and clothes, and no self respecting pier would be complete without a resident fortune teller. Visit Gypsy Petulengro to see what the future holds for you!

Watch the Starlings

North Pier is one of a few places in the country where you can see this amazing sight.

Throughout the months of late autumn and winter, the Piers are a roost for tens of thousands of starlings. Each night when they arrive at dusk they create a spectacular display known as a murmuration. They swoop and glide as one huge, black mass as they fly to the pier to bed down for the night.

  1. £5 for a bottle of cider that retails for £1.50. Well, that is extortionate, but that’s the end of the pier price and if you get the right seat you can watch the tide come in and out and listen to music from DJs.

    1. That’s true of all bars and cafes – but of course you’re not just paying for the drink, you’re also paying for the overheads, wages, and building that you sit in too.

  2. I love North Pier, by far my favourite of the three Blackpool piers.
It has so much to offer, and I love the fact it has not been overtaken by fairground rides, plus those awful side stalls that are so in your face.
A proper traditional pier that you can walk up and down, enjoying the views and being able to hold a conversation, without loud music blaring out.
    The carousel is beautiful.

why do you not mention the organ concerts you have on the pier and why do you not have a show in the week in June especially veterans week

    1. Quite agree with Melvyn Willetts and note there’s no response from the site? The ‘organ’ history in Blackpool is legendary with the Tower Wurlitzer still having considerable presence, even though Reg Dixon ‘Mr Blackpool’ has long since gone. All credit to the team on North Pier trying to recreate something in the style of Ray Wallbanks concerts on the electronic Wurlitzer during the school holidays. Surely they deserve better promotion of their efforts? Times and tastes change but lets not forget the great history of North Pier, and, IMHO, the ‘real’ Mr Blackpool – Raymond Wallbank.
