Third time lucky? Who knows! We’re back to the dentists again, for the third impression of my mouth! ‘Here we go again’ I thought, more visits on the horizon before I get my new palate. It’s a good job I’ve been housebound and not needed to use it. The sight of me with the gaps where my milk teeth never came down is enough to make people run away!
Anyway, I got there and faced a welcoming committee as they were ready for me to go straight in. It suits me fine, as hanging about in waiting rooms isn’t my cup of tea, thank you very much. The snag was that in my rush to get there, I’d forgotten my mask so the receptionist had to go upstairs and find me one. That sounds a bit odd, to be covering your face when you need your mouth wide open.
The trouble was, it was man size on my little face, but at least I was obeying the rules. Into the surgery I went, off came the mask and down to business to the tune of much laughter at my expense.
Third Time Lucky
He stuck the stuff in my mouth and pressed like mad until I thought I was going to rise a foot above the chair. The impression stuff is so very cold and squidgy as well. All of a sudden I thought get it out soon – something is trying to investigate my stomach from my mouth!
Out came the solid goo and with it the lump that had escaped and was just about to go down my throat, via that bit that makes you retch, and into my stomach. There I was waving my arms about and retching until I coughed it up. Not a nice feeling. I thought that was it and then I found a bit more at the back of the roof of my mouth so I started coughing my head off in between laughing.
My dentist, who is lovely, shouted to the assistant to get me a cup of water before I choked altogether, which I managed not to do. The poor man was really concerned as he wiped my face to get bits off that were stuck on it. But we all had such a laugh, especially when he started saying that he could plaster my face in it if I wanted. I said that it would at least fill in my lines and wrinkles so that was OK!
We were laughing to the point that Jane wondered what we were doing in there – were we on laughing gas or what! It just carried on in reception where the poor receptionist was getting in a muddle. Meanwhile my dentist followed us out and carried on being funny even more. It really is lovely when you have to go to these places, it certainly eases the stress.
Then we went to the cash till at the bank next door. I’d still got my supersized mask on. It was raining so I had the hood of my coat up, coming well below my mask so I ended up looking like a gangster!
Stabbed in a Stable Yard
Anyway, on to more serious subjects. Did you read about the poor horse who was stabbed in a stable yard, I couldn’t believe it. What is the matter with people today. It was less than two weeks ago that an attack was carried out on the owners rottweiler, which was horrific.
Somebody seemed to think it was ok to repeatedly stab one of the dogs and the other dog had also been attacked and beaten terribly. One of the dogs had to have surgery on his wounds including a slash on his throat. His jaw was so badly smashed they had to remove part of it and multiple teeth. The other one had been badly beaten with a weapon.
Of course, the daughter of the owner was heartbroken that someone could do this again, this time to her beloved pony. The question I ask is what on earth makes people be so evil as to attack defenceless, trusting animals for their own sadistic pleasure.
Do the same to them
If they catch whoever did it, they ought to be beaten and stabbed just like they did to those poor animals. They are the animals, not the other way round. Again, our archaic laws are too outdated to punish these people properly and they invariably just get off with a caution and small fine.
I absolutely hate to hear stories like this and I immediately put myself in the owner’s place. I know how I would have reacted if my two precious dogs had the same treatment as those poor animals. They ought to hang their heads in shame.
But the question is, why did they do that to the dogs in the first place and then go back two weeks later to have a go at their pony? It doesn’t make sense, unless they had a feud going on or some such. Who knows, I just hope they catch the rotten so and so.
