Hi everyone, I hope the New Year is kind to you and you get what you’re looking for from 2020. It’s been so nice to have such lovely weather with lots of sun but it’s also been very cold too hasn’t it. We’re in for gale force winds today (Tuesday) oh what joy. But it’s par for course when we go to the supermarket, it’s got a bad habit of soaking Jane and I nearly every week!
We’ve had a good holiday and it’s back to it now, groan groan, but all good things have to come to an end sadly. Bills have to be paid and all that boring stuff. After a busy week last week we stayed put at home for a nice weekend of doing as little as possible. Although I’m already wondering when our next holiday is, what am like!
Pet Tales Part 1
Anyway, back to it and I’ve been looking on Facebook to see the story of a dog who was missing for 3 or 4 years and the owner then had him returned. I don’t know who was more ecstatic, the dog or owner. There’s nothing greater to me than the love of a dog. It’s so unconditional, unlike humans who as we all know, can be fickle! Of course children and family come first, but the love of a dog is a wonderful thing to experience. Always there, trusting, loving, not answering back. There’s no telling fibs and always someone to tell all your troubles to. What’s not to like!
Pet Tales Part 2
I saw another article the other day about the man who had tied his Staffie up inside a Church with a note saying that he was so sorry and he loved his dog. The poor man had written a heart wrenching letter saying it wasn’t a decision taken lightly. His dog meant the world to him and he didn’t see what else he could do. He had no home or money and his life had taken a bad turn.
He was so worried about the dog being out in the cold and hungry. He also said he was a placid, loving dog and that he was 7 next March. He’d been treating him for sore paws and his heart was broken. He hoped that his dog would find the home he deserved, he loved him and he was so sorry. The dog has had a vet check up and is being cared for at a private boarding kennel kennels where he’s been re-named Cracker. Quite appropriate don’t you think!
It tore at my heartstrings. It’s so obvious that he loves his dog so much and made the sacrifice of giving his friend up so that he could have a better life than the one he could give him. He will eventually be sent to a good home if no one claims him. But all I could think about was the torment the man must be going through at the loss of his pal.
There but for the grace of God
It’s also dreadful to think that he, like many more people are living on the streets, especially in the middle of Winter. How they would pay vets bills I don’t know, they aren’t exactly cheap as animal owners will know. If people can’t live themselves to the extent that they are homeless, vet’s bills are a no-no don’t you think, although there are animal charities who can help, like the RSPCA. There are also organisations to help if they are have money problems and all the rest of the stuff that life throws at us all for whatever the reason.
But the poor man who loved his dog so much that he wanted a good home for him really affected me. I know how terrible he must be feeling inside at what he had done. I just so hope that they may be reunited and he’s managed to get the help he obviously needs. He must be bereft, as would I in that situation.
Pet Tales Part 3
In comparison, did you see the beautiful black kittens that were dumped in an alley? At least he made sure his dog was ok and went to a better life. When I hear of the awful things that people do to defenceless animals it breaks my heart. Why all the cruelty that some people give to them, I would never understand if I tried. There is no excuse for it, if people don’t want them for whatever reason, why don’t they take them to an animal charity, rescue centre or the RSPCA.
If somebody hadn’t by chance heard these kittens crying, they could well be dead by now and to me that is cruel and inhuman. If a child was treated this way there would be an outcry. I’ll never understand the minds of some people or what kind of person they are. I just know that I’m glad I’m not like that!
