Produced and directed by the legendary Endresz family, showcasing the very best of The Blackpool Tower Circus. There’s been a Circus at the Blackpool Tower since 1894. Mooky and Mr Boo with the Endresz family has wowed audiences and delighted families for over two decades!

Entry is free and everyone is welcome. Come along and get some free advice on a wide range of subjects including mental health, healthy eating, smoking cessation, legal advice, employment and volunteering.

Snowman Live – A Family Christmas Concert

It’s a magical Christmas treat, featuring the LIVE SCREENING of the classic story of – The Snowman – synchronised to our LIVE professional orchestra.

Jungle Jims

Jungle Jim’s closed its doors in April 2019. It’s now a multi-use, themed entertainment and event space called the Fifth Floor.

Did you know? 25 facts in The Blackpool Tower’s 125th year!

With 125 years of history crammed inside, there’s plenty of things you might not know about Blackpool’s favourite landmark…

  1. Old attractions at The Blackpool Tower include an aviary, aquarium and menagerie.
  2. It used to take The Blackpool Tower team approximately seven years to paint the building from top to bottom. Now it’s a much quicker process.
  3. When The Blackpool Tower opened it cost a sixpence to enter. Now it’s free to enter and explore!
  4. There’s a post box located in The Blackpool Tower Eye making it one of the highest post boxes in the country.
  5. The Blackpool Tower has struggled to find someone brave enough to clean the windows 380ft in the air. But today, in its 125th year – it has finally found someone brave enough!

 

  1. The Blackpool Tower sparked the resort’s reputation as a seaside holiday destination. Over 3,000 people lined the promenade on its opening day in 1894 to see the impressive views.
  2. Famous faces who have visited The Blackpool Tower include Hollywood director Tim Burton, Princess Diana, Take That and even King Kong himself who was seen swinging from The Blackpool Tower in 1984.
  3. Up until 1990, the Circus show featured animals including lions, polar bears, tigers and elephants.
  4. The Blackpool Tower Ballroom has hosted Strictly Come Dancing’s Blackpool Special nine times. Celebrities such as Stacey Dooley, Alexandra Burke, Ed Balls and Ore Oduba have all graced the famous dancefloor.
  5. Don’t be scared to jump up and down on the glass skywalk found at the top of The Blackpool Tower Eye, it can hold the weight of two elephants!

 

  1. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge recently visited The Blackpool Tower in March this year and were seen admiring the dancing in The Blackpool Tower Ballroom.
  2. The Tower Circus searches for its acts from all over the world. This year’s circus performance features many different nationalities including Hungarian, Argentinian, Cuban and Mexican.

 

Never Miss a Season!

 

  1. The Blackpool Tower has never missed a circus season in 125 years, even during the two World Wars! That’s well over 45,000 shows which equates to more than 10 years of performing back to back.
  2. The Tower generated its own electricity until 1924.
  3. It has featured in major Hollywood films from Oscar-nominated film Phantom Thread and Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children.

 

  1. The Blackpool Tower Dungeon is one of only a handful of Dungeon attractions found in the world. Other Dungeons can be found in London, Shanghai, Amsterdam and San Francisco.
  2. The Tower is the crowning jewel in the resort’s illuminations period (August – November). Every year, a team of engineers scale the building to check and replace the 25,000 light bulbs that illuminate The Blackpool Tower at night.
  3. The Tower Circus is one of only four circuses in the world to have a water feature finale. The incredible spectacle sees the arena under the circus ring fill with over 42,000 gallons of water in less than one minute.
  4. In 1985, an escapologist married his wife in a steel cage, suspended from The Blackpool Tower.
  5. The Tower was one of three buildings inspired by the Eiffel Tower to be built in the UK. It is the only one still standing.

 

  1. The Tower also has its own Red Lion pub. It was opened in 2018 by ‘The Red Lioness’, a pub fanatic who has visited over 650 Red Lions in the UK.
  2. It cost almost £300,000 (the equivalent of over £40 million in 2019) to build The Tower.
  3. Phil Kelsall MBE, the resident organist, is now the Tower’s longest serving organist at more than 42 years, eclipsing Reginald Dixon’s record which he held between 1930 – 1970.
  4. Peter Kay’s ‘Live At The Top of The Tower’ was filmed in the Circus ring. It is the performance that gained him mainstream media attention and helped set him on his career to stardom.
  5. Charlie Cairoli, one of the most recognisable names in the circus industry, was the resident clown at the Circus between 1939 – 1979.

On Thursday 12 July 2018, a procession of quirky characters and amazing performers from all over the world paraded along Blackpool Promenade. They were celebrating the rich history of Circus in Blackpool as part of the Circus250 celebrations.

Led by Mooky and Mr Boo, the parade included circus acts, performers, local schools and more. They made their way to the Comedy Carpet for a special Circus Performance.
