A Bite to Eat, at Crossbar and Grill

The new Crossbar and Grill bar at the Club’s training ground at Poolfoot Farm is now open.

Crossbar and Grill at Poolfoot Farm Training Complex

Crossbar and Grill is an exciting new bar and restaurant that provides a modern spin on the traditional sports bar, bringing "Food, Football, Family & Friends" together through great food, great drinks, great music and above all a fantastic service.

Crossbar and Grill Americana menu at Poolfoot Farm

This exciting venue is very much at the heart of the community, with fantastic facilities which all can enjoy in comfortable surroundings, as we offer an Americana style menu, craft beers and a selection of wines that we hope everyone will love.

Crossbar and Grill is the destination place to celebrate the beautiful game, whilst enjoying our gourmet burgers, award-winning German Dogs and amazing locally sourced steaks, all within the surroundings of Poolfoot Farm.

Adam Holt, Food and Beverage Manager at the Club, said: “Crossbar and Grill brings a new twist to the classic sports bar, delivering relaxed dining and a contemporary stylish beer and wine bar ideal for meeting for a drink while watching the latest game, or celebrating with family."

“We are feeding our players and staff here almost every day so it made perfect sense to extend the communal area in to restaurant that would also welcome the public.

“Come down, have a meal, a drink or simply a coffee and relax and watch either the first team train or your own children play an under 11’s match.

“We want Poolfoot to be a real community hub both on the field and off it. There really is nothing else like this in the North West and we are very proud to be opening such a wonderful facility for everyone to enjoy.”

Sir Alex Ferguson opens Poolfoot Farm

Football great Sir Alex Ferguson officially opened Fleetwood Town’s new £8m Poolfoot Farm training complex.

Sir Alex Ferguson opens FTFC's new Poolfoot Farm complex

The Manchester United legend – the most decorated manager in British football history – cut the ribbon at the Club’s stunning new state-of-the-art training facility in Thornton, Lancashire, on Wednesday April 20.

Poolfoot’s opening sees Fleetwood Town boast some of the finest training facilities in the UK with 12 grass pitches, two full size 4G FIFA 2 star standard artificial pitches, a fully fitted gym, fitness studio, physiotherapy suite, dedicated classrooms, meetings rooms, a top quality bar and restaurant, seven changing rooms and offices.

Not only will the facilities – which are fully open to the public – benefit Town’s first team, but the development of young players with the club now in talks to develop their youth academy to match those operated in the Premier League.

Under the governance of the professional game’s ‘Elite Player Performance Programme’ (EPPP), Town presently operate a Category 4 academy, providing elite development for age groups U17 through to U21.

The club is in talks with the Football League to move to a Category 3 status as early as next season which would see elite level coaching operations at Poolfoot Farm from age eight upwards.

Best Ideas Form the Best Facilities

The facilities at Poolfoot Farm, which are built on the site of a former farm, were constructed to the highest specification after the club’s management toured a number of top training complexes across England and on the continent.

Fleetwood Town Chief Executive Steve Curwood said: “We’ve taken the best ideas from those complexes we visited, but the greatest challenge was trying to make it work as both a professional training facility and a community sports complex.

“Almost no clubs open their training facility doors to the public in the UK, however overseas there are some great examples of this and how this engages local communities and fans.

“This facility will transform the club in so many ways both for the professional players and the community.

“Hundreds of local children have already enjoyed the use of our 4G pitch, be that local junior clubs, schools, and other organisations. It’s a real hive of activity and it’s brilliant to see so many families enjoying the facilities which just a couple of years ago was wasteland and an eyesore.

"There is also another 4G pitch being constructed as we speak and this will be ready within the next couple of months, further adding to the facilities on site.”

New Home for Fleetwood Town Juniors

Fleetwood Town Juniors move to Fuse Football

This exciting new partnership will provide a fantastic opportunity for young people from the town to grow and develop with the Fleetwood Town FC at the home of Fuse Football.

Junior committee members met with Andy Pilley, Steve Curwood, Gretar Steinsson, Martin Booker and Fuse Football Centre Manager Mick Horsfall earlier this month to discuss the partnership.

Andy Smart, spokesman for the Juniors, was delighted with the outcome. He said: “It was an extremely positive meeting where all parties discussed our future.

“Committee members and coaches have voluntarily worked so hard over the past three years to grow the Juniors to the point where we are today. It is a massive achievement from where we have come from.

“It is now the time to give our kids the best and play at what must be the finest football facilities for a grass roots club in the UK.

“As part of training ground’s first phase of development, all training and a large section of Juniors matches will take place at Fuse Football. The second phase will see more top quality grass pitches available from autumn this year.

“We have always welcomed children from all backgrounds and with all different abilities. This will continue and grow further.

“Whether it is for social reasons a child wants to play football in a safe environment or a child that is of an ability that they can progress into the professional game, we have the network.

“For spectators and children we can now offer refreshment facilities, shelter and toilets. In the very near future there is a plan developed for further education opportunities, class rooms plus party and fundraising facilities.

“Nothing has changed regarding our current pitches at this moment in time due to our steep growth. We will be keeping our grass pitches on King George's playing fields and although they have never been the best we will continue to work to make those pitches better ongoing.”

“Finally, we now have our own base, a home for the Juniors and one that will be one for the very best for many years to come.”

Club chairman Andy Pilley added: “I am delighted that we have agreed this new partnership with Fleetwood Town Juniors.

“This means that the Juniors and their parents will be able to enjoy what will be a stunning football facility at Poolfoot Farm. A very exciting future is in store for everyone connected with both Fleetwood Town clubs.”
