Sailortown Maritime Festival Day
May 13, 2018 @ 10:30 am - 11:00 pm
Sailortown Maritime Festival Day is the new brand name for an event which has become established in Fleetwood during the past three years.
May 13 2018 from 10.30 – 11pm
Various venues in Fleetwood
As activity in the port of Fleetwood diminishes, the day event looks back to the days of sailing ships, steamers and Britain’s third biggest deep sea fishing port. Events are focused on the historic heartland of Fleetwood.
The events, on Sunday May 13th, kick off with maritime historian John Baker, talking about the historic fishing smack, Harriet, at Fleetwood Museum. It concludes with an evening with the popular Captain’s Crew in the Steamer Hotel. A variety of events throughout the day see maritime music specialists appearing at Fleetwood Museum, North Euston Hotel and at the Lifeboat Station. Popular female duo, Scold’s Bridle will present their popular We Are the Women show and Alan Bell and Band, Wind, Sea, Sail and Sky.
Local historian and journalist Dave Pearce will host events at the Museum.
Several events have free admission, with tickets for concerts priced at £5 – £7. A printed programme is now available, free of charge, from North Euston reception or Fleetwood Museum. Tickets can be purchased from the same venues.
