New Wyre Car Parking Charges for 2019

New Wyre Car Parking Charges for 2019

In 2018 Wyre Council carried out a survey with residents about car parks in the borough. New Wyre car parking charges will be introduced from 1 April 2019, many of which have reduced in price.

New One Hour Car Parking Ticket

A common theme throughout the survey responses was that people often wanted to call in to a shop for a short time and didn’t want to have to pay for two hours parking. So, a one hour rate has been introduced on all car parks at a charge of £1.

New Wyre Car Parking Charges – All Day Ticket

Analysis also showed that not many people were buying all day tickets, previously priced between £3.80 and £6, depending on the car park.

Therefore a reduced rate of £3.50 now allows users to park all day up to 6pm at any Wyre long stay car park.

What’s more, the all day tickets are now transferable between all long stay car parks, meaning you can visit one town in the morning and another in the afternoon and take your ticket with you.  Just need to enter your car registration when buying an all day ticket.

New Wyre Car Parking Charges – Season Tickets

Prices of season ticket parking passes have also been reduced. Season tickets allow unlimited parking in any long stay car park, day and night.

These are now also transferable between long stay car parks, so if you purchase one it can be used across Wyre. Season tickets are available for 1, 3, 6 and 12 months.

Prices start at £45 for one month and £300 for 12 months. All season ticket prices have been reduced and the 12 month ticket will be £95 cheaper.

New Wyre Car Parking Charges – Overnight Parking

There will be a charge of £2 to park overnight on all Wyre Council car parks, allowing users to park after 6pm through to 8am the following morning.

Councillor Roger Berry, Portfolio Holder for Neighbourhood Services and Community Safety at Wyre Council comments, “We have listened to the public and responded to their feedback as we want to make our car parks as user friendly as possible. The introduction of a one hour ticket is much fairer for people who are wanting to quickly visit a shop.

“The all day ticket will allow people to use their local car park and then perhaps explore a part of the borough they might not normally visit. We want to encourage people to use their local shops and spend time in our town centres and hopefully these revised charges will encourage this even more.”

Long stay car parks in Wyre are located at:

  • Albert Street, Fleetwood
  • Custom House Lane, Fleetwood
  • High Street, Garstang
  • Derby Road East, Cleveleys
  • Derby Road West, Cleveleys
  • Jubilee Gardens, Cleveleys
  • Hardhorn Road, Poulton (now renamed Wheatsheaf Way)

There are also two short stay car parks at:

  • Rough Lea Road, Cleveleys
  • Promenade North, Cleveleys

The new charges will come into operation from 1 April 2019.

If I have a residents parking permit for designated car parks in Eyre Norough, has the length of time you can stay in them been extended from 2 hours Thank you

There hasn’t been any information published about changes to residents permits so I can only assume they remain the same.

Good news about daytime parking charges, but we will have to pay after 6 pm whereas it was free before! Those of us who support local businesses in the evenings will have to remember to pay when using a car park.
